I had a super fun time at TAC -> triadanimecon.com hanging out with even though the convention was small and slow. It was great making new friends and learning how to market for a convention.

I learned a lot about what people want to buy at a convention. I thought I had a good idea of what was popular, but I was only looking at things that I was personally interested in. Now that I have a better concept of what will sell at an artist's table, I have been researching what types of things I want to play with. I keep finding fun and interesting ideas for projects, so I figured I'd list some of the materials that I really want to use at some point.
1) Whipped Cream Clay -> www.artfire.com/ext/shop/produ… - this looks so cool when it's piped out on mini foods.
2) Tamiya Baking Master -> www.tamiya.com/english/deco/ba… - this is specially designed powder to give your miniature things a "baked" look.
3) Liquid Sculpey -> www.sculpey.com/products/clays… - This can be used to bond two pre-baked pieces of clay, create a "wet" look (like liquid in a miniature cup), or can even be baked alone to make window clings!
4) Hearty White Paper Clay -> www.kawaiisupply.com/products/… - I'm interested to see if this is the same thing as my Celluclay -> www.amazon.com/CELLUCLAY-BRIGH… that I already use, or if it's a more precise product.
5) Jumping Clay -> www.ebay.com/itm/JUMPING-CLAY-… - I saw a video on YouTube about this clay, and I think it looks really interesting. I don't know if it's the same thing as Model Magic -> www.crayola.com/products/splas… but it looks cool and fun to play with.
6) Silicone Caulk -> www.dap.com/product_details.as… - All the videos I watched about using silicone as a whipped cream look-alike mentioned this brand. People had very interesting methods of applying the silicone, and very interesting projects that they suggested. I learned it can be tinted with acrylic paint, applied to everything from paper to clay to plastic, and it can be piped like frosting or applied straight out of the container. This is the thing I think I will try to use first (even though I listed it last.)

Another thing, I will be attending almost every convention put on by Nostalgia Conventions -> nostalgiaconventions.com (with the exception of Colossalcon -> colossalcon.com/ although I might go next year.) So far, my con schedule looks like this:

Just to give a heads up, I'll be at Anime Weekend Atlanta (AWA) and Ichibancon for sure. I want to attend other cons, but budget constraints restrict that. HOPEFULLY I will have a booth at Ichiban's Artist Alley. I'm so excited. I may be splitting it with my sister so go encourage her to keep on top of drawing and to get good sketches done. I will also be volunteering at both cons to help pay for my ticket, so be nice and chat with me if you see me around. I'll probably have my cat hat on.

Does anyone know anything about getting permission to use other people's characters for profit? Example: Making fan art of Naruto or Bleach or My Little Ponies or whathaveyou and selling it? I wanna make sure I do things legit but I don't know how to go about it. If you have any advice, let me know.

Well I completed school (at least for now) in June. I got a better (but not great) job in July. Here it is, August, where I'm trying to get my home repaired enough to move in and I'm trying to get a loan from the bank so I can get said repairs done. Feels like I can never catch a break. As soon as either A) I have a house to live in of my own, or B) the horrible woman who lives in 2 of the 4 rooms in this house (i.e. my boyfriend's mother) finally moves out, I'll be able to start working more on my ideas. I have so many plans and materials for amazing art, but I have zero work space. If only I could get a little shed and desk and just work outside..... but then I'd have to put in air conditioning and pay for power which would set back my home repairs. :/ Why can't I just get my life together?

Anyone have either one large room or two small rooms they would let me stay in for free?

Doubt it.

On another note, I almost have all the achievements for Fable 2.... since that's what I do in my free time.

I almost don't know if I'm even interested in art anymore. I don't really draw for fun or anything. I don't know if it's lack of motivation or if I'm just done with art.

Anyway, I changed my avatar finally. It's actually a little lithograph I did for printmaking class. I edited out the words because I didn't like the placement. Also, it said "fat cat" in itty-bitty letters that were hard to read and I felt implied that I was overweight. Which I'm not. Yet. If I keep eating cool whip with everything, I will be.

I will be trying to get a job and buy a house soon, so I'll dump one more random batch of art and then I probably won't post again until May.

I miss seeing my friends update here. dA has become less of a community to me and more like the occasional oh-i-should-draw-something-oh-wait-i'm-too-busy slap in the face. I always hope to draw more and then it never happens. Whatever. Tomorrow I will be drawing a quick picture for a competition I shouldn't have committed to. I spent all of my vacation actually ON VACATION so I wasn't home to work on my entry. I will post it up here after the art show goes up later this week. It may quickly go to scraps, but I may surprise myself. The picture will be of and I hope it remotely resembles him.
